We are surrounded by technology, and it is constantly taking over all aspects of our lives evolving it for something better. Technology has been slow but its role in education has been imminent. Even before the pandemic hit and we had to adopt technology to make distance learning possible, there were quite a few teachers who realized the value it would bring and revolutionize the way we educate the next generation.

Sonia Wadhwa is one of those few teachers. She is the IT Manager and HOD ICT at The Sanskaar Valley School, in Bhopal, with 23+ years of experience. Her passion for her subjects and her dedication towards her students is what motivates her. She is a skype teacher and uses technology to teach students who are at distant locations (pre-pandemic), takes special classes for less privileged students and conducts special remedial classes for those who need extra help during holidays and long vacations. Her hard work and motivation has driven many young minds to pursue computer science from the world’s best universities or are placed in the best companies in the IT Industry and she considers this to be her greatest achievement.

Sonia ma'am is well versed in various edtech tools she is a Nearpod Certified Educator. She is a Microsoft Technology Associate for Java, Certified Microsoft Office Specialist for Word, Excel and PowerPoint 2016, Microsoft Certified Educator Expert, Wakelet and Flipgrid Ambassador, Google certified digital citizenship facilitator, Google Certified Educator for Scratch and MIT App Inventor. She is also a Master Trainer and MIEE Fellow with Microsoft, an Adobe Creative Educator and India Ambassador. She takes a keen interest in the concept of Gamified Learning to make learning more engaging for students, and emphasizes on the importance of Student-Teacher Connect. She has been a part of the Teach a Class community for a long time and has trained 1500 educators this past year. Now with things moving towards normalcy and the reopening of schools Sonia ma'am is exploring how we can incorporate edtech tools to upgrade our offline classes in the 21st century.
